Driver Age: Impact on Driving Safety and Risk Perception
As drivers age, their ability to assess and recognize hazards and risks on the road becomes slower and unreliable.
The driver's brain will not recognize these risks; therefore, they will not react promptly, thus, unable to avoid them.
Besides having slower reaction times, their vision may decay, and they may not see potential risks and hazards on the road. Poor hearing, motor skills, and health conditions also contribute to poor risk perception.
