Emergency Vehicles: Priority on the Road in Ontario
Emergency vehicles always have priority on the road, and all motorway users must give way, no matter what. Drivers must always be aware of and react accordingly. Suppose an emergency vehicle or tow truck is approaching from the rear. In that case, drivers must first signal, move to the right-hand side, and stop, leaving enough space to pass the emergency vehicle.
Drivers must slow down or move; failure to do so could result in charges or jail time. So, drivers must either listen to the sirens or notice the flashing lights that signify moving out of the way.
