Instruments and Warning Indicators Explained - Vehicle Safety Tips

The instruments and warning indicators communicate the following pieces of information:

  • Speedometer: Shows current Speed and mileage in MPH and KPH.
  • Tachometer: Shows the number of rotations per minute the engine is making.
  • Odometer: Shows distance in miles or kilometres a car has travelled in its lifetime.
  • Fuel Gauge: Indicates how much fuel remains in the vehicle's fuel tank.
  • Gear Display: Shows which gear the car is currently in.
  • Turn Signal Indicators: Indicates a flashing light when turn signals are on.
  • Hazard Lights: This shows when emergency lights are on.
  • Active System Lights: Active system lights display indicator lights that warn about the open door, open truck, battery level, tire pressure, and other information depending on the vehicle. Please review the vehicle's owner's manual for additional information.
