Brampton features massive, multi-lane arterial roads with heavy traffic volume, highly aggressive local driving habits, and complex advanced-green intersections.
Testing in Brampton means navigating a high-pressure suburban environment. You will face wide, 70 km/h boulevards packed with impatient commuters and transport trucks.
The environment here is notoriously unforgiving. The extreme volume of traffic on routes like Steeles Avenue requires absolute confidence in lane changes and gap management.
Failing to safely execute a left turn on an advanced green. Students either freeze and miss the light completely, or panic and turn blindly when the advanced arrow ends.
Dangerous lane changes. The high speed and heavy volume of traffic cause students to rush their blind spot checks or cut off vehicles approaching rapidly from behind.
Running yellow lights. Because the intersections are so massive, entering on a late yellow often means the light turns red while you are still trapped in the intersection.
When making a lane change on Steeles, do not slow down. You must maintain your speed or even accelerate slightly to merge safely into the aggressive flow of traffic.
At major intersections, if the advanced green arrow turns off, do not panic. Pull forward 1/3 of the way into the box, wait for oncoming traffic to clear, and turn calmly.
Exaggerate your observation. The examiners here are hyper-vigilant because of the low pass rate. Make sure your chin moves to your shoulder on every single lane change.
Brampton has one of the highest failure rates in Ontario. Do not attempt this test unless you are highly confident in heavy, high-speed suburban traffic.
