Flexible learning activities that connect the theory to real driving decisions with your co-driver at home.

10h In-Car Training

Private in-car sessions in a dual-control vehicle with a certified instructor, scheduled around school and work.

Price, plainly: Course $670.00 + certification $50.00 = $720.00, plus $93.60 HST = $813.60 total. Or pay in 3 instalments of $271.20 at the same $813.60 total. Completing BDE can shorten the G1 licensing wait from 12 months to 8, and may support an insurance discount (confirm with your insurer).

Good to know

Who can start BDE?

Anyone with a valid G1 licence. Parents: you can register for your child in the form — choose “my child” at Step 1 and, if the student is under 18, confirm as parent or guardian at Step 2.

Can I add a road-test car later?

Yes. Add the instructor’s car and a warm-up in the registration form now, or ask us closer to your test date — the car is priced by DriveTest centre, from $141.25 total.

How do I pay?

Card, Interac e-Transfer to pay@driviology.ca, or cash. Choose your method at Step 3 of registration; we confirm the next step for the method you pick.

What the 40 hours look like

20 hours — digital learning

Theory online, at your pace: rules of the road, defensive driving, hazard awareness — on the MTO-approved BDE Digital platform.

10 hours — HomeLink activities

Guided activities that connect the theory to the real roads around you, completed between lessons.

10 hours — in-car training

Private 1-on-1 sessions with a licensed instructor in a dual-control vehicle, building from quiet streets to test-ready driving.

Why take an MTO-approved BDE course?

  • Test sooner: BDE graduates can take the G2 road test after 8 months instead of 12.
  • Insurance: many insurers offer a discount to graduates of an MTO-approved BDE course — ask yours for the exact amount.
  • Certification included: your $50 MTO certification fee is inside the $813.60 total — and BDE earns 670 DrivPoints.
  • Instalments at no extra cost: 3 × $271.20, the same $813.60 total.

What BDE does not include

The government road-test fee is paid to DriveTest, not to us. The instructor’s car for test day and any lessons beyond the 10 in-car hours are optional add-ons — you can add them when you register, and the total updates before you commit. Nothing is added silently.
