Examiner availability is highly restricted. Expect heavy logging transport traffic on Highway 105 regardless of your time slot.
⚠️ Times to Avoid
Rush hours (7:30-9:00 AM, 4:30-6:00 PM) and Friday afternoons when everyone's in a hurry
Ear Falls is an extreme Northwestern outpost. The routes feature Highway 105, severe winter weather damage, massive logging trucks, and high populations of wildlife.
Testing in the deep North means managing your vehicle on rougher terrain while dealing with roads that often lack clear, freshly painted lane dividers.
You will face a stark contrast between sleepy neighborhood driving, intense logging highway traffic, and unpredictable wildlife hazards.
Failing to scan for wildlife. Examiners watch your eyes; if you aren't actively scanning the deep ditches and tree lines for deer or moose, you will be penalized.
Straddling lanes on unmarked roads. Winter weather often erodes the painted lines; students fail by drifting into the center of the road rather than hugging the right side.
Following heavy transport trucks too closely. Failing to leave a mandatory 3-second space cushion behind logging trucks on the major arterial roads.
Move your head constantly. Actively scan the tree lines and ditches as you drive the rural routes to prove you are hunting for wildlife hazards.
If the painted lines are faded or missing entirely, always imagine a solid yellow line down the middle of the street. Hug the right side of your imaginary lane tightly.
Give logging trucks a massive buffer. If you can't see the truck driver's mirrors, they cannot see you. Never hover in their blind spot.
TRAVEL POINT: Operates part-time. The pass rate is high, but you must demonstrate excellent rural hazard awareness to satisfy the examiner.
