🕐 Best Time to Book
Testing is incredibly rare and seasonal. Moosonee does not have a connected highway system to the south, making testing conditions entirely unique.
⚠️ Times to Avoid
Rush hours (7:30-9:00 AM, 4:30-6:00 PM) and Friday afternoons when everyone's in a hurry
Moosonee is an extreme Arctic/Sub-Arctic testing location. There are no paved highways; you will navigate dirt, gravel, or ice roads depending on the season.
The environment tests your ability to handle severe traction loss, unpaved surfaces, and complete lack of standard municipal road markings.
Expect a test strictly focused on basic vehicle operation, winter driving survival skills, and extremely low-speed maneuvers.
Losing traction. Accelerating too hard or braking too abruptly on gravel or ice roads, causing the vehicle to slide.
Straddling the road. Failing to stay on the right-hand side of unlined dirt/gravel roads when encountering oncoming local traffic.
Failing to scan for pedestrians/wildlife. The lack of standard sidewalks means pedestrians and animals frequently share the roadway.
Treat the accelerator and brake pedals like they are made of glass. Smooth, gradual inputs are the only way to maintain traction on unpaved surfaces.
Always hug the right side of the road, even if there are no lines and the center of the road looks smoother.
Scan the shoulders of the road deeply. Pedestrians, snowmobiles, and ATVs often cross the roads unpredictably.
TRAVEL POINT: This is one of the most unique testing locations in North America. The pass rate is exceptionally high due to the lack of complex traffic, but the environmental conditions are extreme.
