BDE typically takes 2-4 weeks depending on your schedule and the package chosen. Classroom is often done in 2-3 days, while in-car lessons are spread over several weeks.
BDE is not mandatory in Ontario, but it is highly recommended. Many insurance companies offer discounts for BDE completion, and it significantly improves your chances of passing the G2 test.
The classroom portion can sometimes be completed online, but the in-car lessons must be done in person with an instructor.
Insurance discounts typically range from 5-15% depending on your insurance provider and policy. Many insurers recognize MTO-Approved BDE programs.
